MEMBERSHIP PAYMENT INFORMATON#

This information is to be used by members of the Academia Europaea for payment of:

  • annual membership fee for the financial year 1 January to 31 December 2026
  • new membership establishment fee for members elected in 2026

The 2026 fee structure is:

Establishment Fee for all new members elected 2026: 200 EUR (or 175 GBP)
Irrespective of age at date of election or if elected as an Ordinary or Foreign member.

Attention:
  • If new members choose to make a life payment as their first payment, they do not have to pay the ‘Establishment Fee’.
    Please read the information on Life membership(info).
  • Members who were elected as a Foreign member:
    • Regarding the classification as ORDINARY or FOREIGN member the question of nationality and citizenship are irrelevant. At the date of election, if a candidate lives and works (principally) outside of Europe (and Israel), then they are considered as a Foreign candidate.
    • If a candidate has a dual position and spends 6 months in Europe and six months outside, she/he can be classified as Ordinary member.

Fee structure 2026

Ordinary Members up to and including 65 years of age: 200 EUR (or 175 GBP)
Ordinary Members 66 - 75 years of age: 125 EUR (or 110 GBP)
Ordinary Members over 75 years of age: 40 EUR (or 35 GBP)

Foreign members up to and including 75 years of age: 200 EUR (or 175 GBP)
Foreign members over 75 years of age: 40 EUR (or 35 GBP)

Life member payment (Ordinary and Foreign)

Under 65 years: 2250 EUR (1980 GBP)
66 - 75 years: 895 EUR (785 GBP)

Members can opt to make a single life membership payment(info). If you choose this option, you will no longer receive an annual invoice.

Note:

If your personal circumstances mean that you cannot pay at the recommended age-related rate, please pay at whichever rate is possible. If you cannot pay, please ask for an exemption by contacting the London Office Executive Secretary execsec@acadeuro.org

HOW TO PAY#

Option 1 - online via CAF Bank (Charities Aid Foundation), a secure link and provides an instant e-receipt

Please note:

Our Bank has asked that anyone using the online facility must not use a corporate card (for example a university or Institute card), unless it has a personal name on the card (not just the name of the institute or department). Corporate cards may be rejected; it is therefore better to use a personal card.

Important information:

  • the online payment facility (the red Donate button above) is hosted by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) bank.
  • this is a specialist Bank, being itself, a UK registered charity.
  • the payment form is hosted on the Banks own secure server, not the Academia Europaea server, it is therefore completely safe.
  • payments are made in GB Pounds but will appear on your statement in your local currency.
  • the Bank provides us with support to process your membership payment and any general donations.
  • the Bank will send an e-receipt when your payment has been processed, it will be sent to the email address entered when making the transaction.
  • the payment will appear on your credit or debit card statement as ‘Donate via CAF Internet’. Be assured, the payment will reach us.

UK based members

If you are a UK based member and pay tax in the UK, then please "Gift Aid" your payment.

OTHER WAYS TO PAY YOUR MEMBERSHIP PAYMENT#

Option 2 - bank transfer via NATWEST bank

We prefer online payment, see option 1 above, as it is secure and provides you with an instant receipt. But, if necessary, you can also pay by bank transfer in Euros, GB Pounds, or your local currency.

You will have received our bank details in the personalised e-invoice sent to you in January 2026 from the London office.

Or you can log in to the member only area to access the bank information.

Please note:
If you pay by bank transfer, you must include for reference your FOUR DIGIT INVOICE/MEMBERSHIP NUMBER and/or FULL NAME OF THE MEMBER. This information must be provided to connect the payment to the specific member.

Option 3 - credit card

Only use this form if you want the London office to process the payment for you. Complete and send by email to the Executive Secretary execsec@acadeuro.org at the London office.

  • Ordinary Members up to and including 65 years of age: 200 Euro [or 168 GBP]
  • Ordinary Members 66 - 75 years of age: 125 Euro [or 100 GBP]
  • Ordinary Members over 75 years of age: 40 Euros [or 35 GBP]
  • Foreign members up to and including 75 years of age: 200 Euro [or 168 GBP]
  • Foreign members over 75 years of age: 40 Euro [or 35 GBP]

Life membership payments#

Members can opt to make a once only payment for life. It is an age-related scale. If you choose to do this, you will no longer be sent the annual payment reminder mailings. Please read the life membership payments document.

At the moment it seems that the CAF-bank website (Charities Aid Foundation (CAF)), which handles the membership fee online-form, has some technical difficulties. So if you do not see the donate button above please use the following link instead:
